This is the song of the night as I climbed my way to the top of my parking structure. Enjoy!

Tonight when I got off work at 8pm I decided I would go for a leisurely ride into Tempe. Well as any real cyclist would expect there is no such thing as a leisurely ride. I dropped the hammer all the way into ASU college town and on to Tempe Town Lake. Them I found a seven story parking structure that I took on with relentless vigor. I made the climb to the top out of the saddle the whole way up. This is an accomplishment for me as climbing is not my strong suit. I realized that the strength I’ve developed in my legs has grown exponentially since I’ve been riding my single speed rig. I have also realized how much I actually hold back when I’m riding on my own. When I reached the top of the parking structure I climbed tonight I felt a rise of energy come over me that had me shaking with a need to do it again, and then again. So if I were to count the total number of stories climbed tonight, it would be twenty-one in all and I feel great afterwards. Tonight is a mile stone in my cycling prowess. I have pushed myself to a new level of ability. I am ready for more challenges.
For The Love Of Cycling - SubCultures (by soulpancake)
When I first got into cycling I never in a million years would have thought it would change my life in the way that it has. Today I am night and day different and better person because of it and I will never turn back. How has cycling changed your life?

This is the unofficial official song of my ride out to Queen Creek…
(via tumblr.com)
The ride out to Queen Creek really wasn’t all I thought it would be cracked up to be. I got on the road by 5:20am and pulled up to my destination by 7:20am. While on my journey I was pondering the same question over and over again in my head. Where are all the cyclists?! When I left to start my ride the sun had just begun to rise and for me it was like watching an epic movie of triumph as I watched its ascension into the morning sky. There were so many awesome colors and feelings that came with the complete serenity the sunrise offered, and I felt privileged that I was the only one out to see it. I felt like the sun was rising just for me. Once the sun had risen my ride was well into full swing and the humidity was pulling every ounce of hydration out of me. I will say that I did eventually come across to cyclists leaving the Queen Creek area. The only thing I thought when I saw them was “You’re going the wrong way, the sunrise is this way”. Anyways the ride was epic and I look forward to my journey home tomorrow.
TFAZ,
Tomorrow morning I rise and shine at 4am. The game plan is to hit my local coffee shop for some quick caffeinated energy and a bite, then off to Queen Creek to see my kids. I always get a lot of questions like “Why wouldn’t you just drive there then ride a bit?” or “are you crazy?”. The fact of the matter is that I look for every opportunity that I can turn in to an excuse to ride one of my bikes. My “excuse” this time is with such “hard economic times” gas for the truck is hard to justify when I am fully physically capable of making the same trip under my own power. There are some great plus sides to making this ride. Outside of the obvious physical training, it will give me more to write about. This ride will also expose me to more of the vastly scenic east valley. Did I mention I have to haul my lead weight laptop with me too? This will be an awesome adventure!
